Iranian LPG Exports Shift From Pakistan to Afghanistan

I am at the desk looking at the wire.

I am at the desk looking at the wire.

Iran has redirected its liquefied petroleum gas exports away from Pakistan and toward Afghanistan, according to social media reports citing Iranian businessman Babak Zanjani. The wire indicates the fuel continues from Afghanistan into China.

Zanjani states that his company will stop selling low-priced cooking gas to Pakistan entirely. He says the cutoff will remain even if the border crossings reopen. The price of a standard 12-kilogram gas cylinder for households is expected to climb to 10,000 Pakistani rupees, which equals about thirty-six dollars.

The underlying details of these export volumes remain unconfirmed by official trade bodies. State media reports from Tehran have not yet detailed the shift.

Both governments gain time while trade channels adjust to the new route. The obvious move from here is waiting for confirmation from border customs offices on whether any fuel trucks are actually moving.
